Career Development Awardee
Foundations for a Practitioner-Researcher Pathway
This award will give me time and support to build my research skills. It will help me take the next step towards becoming a social care researcher.
I will complete training in how to plan, carry out, and understand research. This includes learning how to collect and study different types of information. I will also take short courses on topics to explore. These will help me find better ways to support care staff and services.
I will complete a short online course on community research. This will teach me how to involve people in shaping and giving feedback on research. I want to work with people who draw on care, so the research we do meets their needs.
I will carry out a scoping review. This means reading and organising research that already exists. I will focus on how to attract and keep care workers in rural and coastal places like Cornwall. This will help me find gaps and shape ideas for future research.
I will also go to conferences, meet other researchers, and look for ways to join live research projects. I will get support from experienced mentors. I will also use my current networks in Cornwall to test ideas and gather feedback.
I work in a local council. I want to grow in confidence. This award will help me think more clearly. I want to learn how to do research that is useful and easy to understand. My goal is to support care workers and improve care for the people they support.
