Catalysing Change Awards
The Catalysing Change Awards (CCAs) provide funding to support the development and realisation of impact from SSCR-funded research undertaken since 2019.
We recognise that meaningful impact is a marathon, not a sprint, and are keen to invest in SSCR projects with unrealised potential to drive genuine, measurable change.
About the awards
These awards are designed to help translate research into meaningful, measurable change in policy, practice, systems or services.
Researchers who received funding during the third SSCR phase (2019-2024) and current members of the School are invited to submit applications for a Catalysing Change Award (CCA), offering additional funding to support ongoing impact activities.
It is envisaged that CCAs will:
- Not normally exceed £25,000 (although applications for larger awards will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
- Align to current SSCR strategies and the ‘three shifts’ identified in the 10 Year Health Plan for England
- Clearly articulate the intended positive change resulting from the award and how you will measure success
Full details and guidance can be found on the application form, which can be downloaded below.
How to apply
To apply for an CCA, please complete an application form and costing template, returning them to sscr@york.ac.uk.
Please note that any current SSCR members applying for a CCA will need to justify why the proposed activity cannot be funded through their existing core funding.
This is an open call, applications can be submitted at any time, but awards will assessed and outcomes confirmed at set points in the year.
| Application submitted | Outcomes confirmed |
| January-March | First week in May |
| April-June | First week in August |
| July- September | First week in November |
| October-December | First week in February |
We appreciate that time-sensitive impact opportunities sometimes arise and welcome CCA applications on such occasions. In these instances, we will consider the application by exception outside of the set dates to ensure a timely decision is made. Please make it clear in the cover email why the application is time-sensitive.
