Planning impact
Turning research into action for meaningful change in social care
Planning research impact
As with so many things, achieving impact requires careful planning. Researchers are encouraged to:
- Reflect on the potential impacts your research could have
- Define objectives that go beyond advancing or challenging existing knowledge
- Identify the outcomes you aim to achieve with your work
- Consider what effects you want your work to create, in which contexts, and for what reasons
- Factor in how knowledge exchange/ mobilisation activities can amplify your research impact
General resources
There is a wealth of great advice available to support you with planning your research impact, including definitions of terminology and how to develop an impact plan.
Finding the policymakers who want to hear about your research
UK Parliament Knowledge Exchange Unit has created a new resource to help researchers find parliamentarians who share your research interest.
Accessing support from the national IMPACT centre
There are practical lessons about how to support the implementation of research and other evidence in practice via IMPACT, the UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care. There is also scope to cost support from IMPACT into your SSCR research bid.
