I am currently a Reader in Social Policy at the University of Birmingham and have worked at the University for more than 10 years.
The aim of the award was to develop my research leadership, expertise and professional networks, with a particular focus on social care in the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. The award provided the time to publish my prior research and to develop research bids. This also included developing my research networks with VCSEs, academics and people with lived experience to co-design future research agendas.
Kelly’s research interests include:
My research focuses on adult social care, particularly the role of voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations. My research in this area has centred on care markets, and the contribution of social enterprises and micro enterprises to the adult social care sector. I draw on participatory approaches in my research and co-lead the ‘Research Better Together’ project, designed to build equitable research partnership between social care researchers and VCSEs in Birmingham.
