I’m an economist by background but now a general social scientist researching social care. My social care research has spanned nearly 20 years, but has tended to centre around the needs of older people living at home in receipt of care, and the workforce supporting them.
My award aimed to promote my standing and networks as a social care workforce researcher. I used my award to undertake a placement at the Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit at King’s College London, to build networks and new partnerships. This led to successful collaboration including a successful HS&DR-funded study on homecare workforce and delegated healthcare tasks – let by KCL.
