Staff profile

With a background in pharmacy, health economics, and social care research, I have spent 15 years at LSE, specialising in the economic evaluation of interventions for individuals with long-term conditions and deprived populations, such as those experiencing multiple exclusion homelessness.

My work integrates the preferences and perspectives of service users and other key stakeholders—such as service providers, local authorities, ICBs, national governments, third-sector organisations, community members, and broader society—into economic analyses, using participatory research methods to ensure their voices shape policy and practice. I lead projects on digital innovations in social care, enhancing dynamic evaluation approaches that continuously monitor and assess service delivery in real-time. By integrating person-level data with real-time decision-making processes, dynamic evaluation enables adaptive, evidence-based adjustments that improve individual care outcomes while driving population-level improvements in service provision and policy.

I have a PhD in Health Economics and Primary Care and an MSc in Public Health and Health Services Research from the University of Aberdeen, as well as an MSc in Pharmacoeconomics and a Professional Doctorate Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Milan, Italy.

My award was designed to promote the adoption of Discrete Choice Experiments (DCEs) in the commissioning and delivery of social care services, with a particular focus on out-of-hospital care for people experiencing homelessness (PEH). The DCE data, collected for the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC)-funded evaluation of the National Out of Hospital Care Model Programme for PEH, was used for new analyses, visualisations, and insights generation.

The insights derived from the DCE data have informed policy, helped shape more effective service models, and fostered collaborations among academics, policymakers, and service providers. Through these outcomes, the award has not only improved services for PEH but also advanced my career as a researcher in the field of social care.
