Making a Difference in Adult Social Care: The IMPACT Centre

The IMPACT Centre (Improving Adult Care Together) is all about making social care better by using real evidence to improve the way things are done. Funded by The Health Foundation and ESRC, IMPACT is working across the UK to turn research and lived experiences into practical changes that help people who rely on adult social care.

At its core, IMPACT is about making sure good ideas don’t just stay in reports – they actually get put into practice to improve lives. Their approach is simple:

  • Testing What Works – They work with local areas to try out new ways of supporting people, like improving direct payments, better dementia care, and using technology in social care.
  • Building Skills – Social care staff get training and resources to help them make informed decisions and deliver the best support possible.
  • Listening to People – They make sure the voices of those receiving care, carers, and professionals shape the way social care is improved.

If you work in or rely on social care, IMPACT offers:

✔ Practical tools – Easy-to-use guides and resources to help make better decisions.
✔ Expert advice – Support to help organisations put evidence-based ideas into action.
✔ Workshops & training – Learning sessions to share knowledge and best practices.

By bringing people together and focusing on real-world solutions, IMPACT is helping create a future where adult social care works better for everyone.Find out more at IMPACT’s website
