There is substantial evidence demonstrating the positive effects of using a range of digital services on the quality of life of unpaid carers and people living with dementia. A large proportion of the existing research centres on the feasibility and potential effects of new digital platforms and applications designed for dementia care.
In contrast, this study explored the types of information communication technology (ICT) that unpaid carers use (or don’t use) in their daily lives, outside of a controlled research context. Our study demonstrated the range of digital solutions unpaid carers use and highlights the gaps in awareness and formal signposting of ICTs that can support them with the care they provide.
