I am a qualified social worker with over 20 years experience in adult social care. I currently work as Programme Manager (Practice Lead) with London ADASS, collaborating with directors of adult social care and other local authority leaders to support best practice and improvement in adult social care. I completed a part-time PhD in October 2024, which explored the personal, professional, organisational, and structural influences on social work practice with older people in care homes.
The career development award backfilled my role for a few days a week over 20 months, allowing me to focus on completing PhD research. I also built into the award the aims of developing my research skills more widely, building links between research and practice and helping my local authority to look at bringing research closer to practice.
